Jess Smith, a Kansas native, has carved an impressive path through the world of soccer. Her journey began in Wichita, where she quickly made a name for herself, setting records at Wichita Southeast High School and earning recognition at both regional and national Olympic Development Camps. Her standout performance earned her a full scholarship to play for the University of Kansas, where she tallied 16 goals and 10 assists over her four-year career with the Jayhawks. After graduation, Smith transitioned seamlessly into coaching, first at Olathe Northwest, then joining the Jayhawks’ staff and continuing to grow her impact on the game. Her coaching talents were soon recognized, and she was invited to join the inaugural coaching staff for the Kansas State University women’s soccer program. Smith thrived in this pioneering role, and her success led her to another milestone—becoming one of the youngest female NCAA Division I head coaches at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.
